This is what it looks like:
To start with, I had a coil of electrical wire. We just had this as scrap left over from some project or another, not sure if you can get it in small quantities like this, but there we go. I think I used 12 or 14 gauge wire.
I wrapped it around 2 or 3 times around my fist. My suggestion: try and coil it a bit more neatly than I did.. I ended up wanting more than I gave myself, but it was fine.
You then cut that length from the rest of the wire. As you can see, electrical wire comes with a rubber/plastic casing over it. You have to strip this off.
As you can see, my length had quite a bit to take off. I would suggest taking it off in 1-1.5" increments, as they seem to be the easiest to slide off.
And then you get this beautiful copper wire.. with nicks in it, if you aren't careful (I have these nice little nicks every inch or so...)
I then coiled it to the size/shape I wanted it. I rolled mine around a tape roll, but anything round can be used. Having done this myself, I suggest straightening it first, and coiling it tighter than you would expect to need.
At this point, you could leave it as a bracelet like this, but I had an idea for a kind-of embellishment..
This is gold craft wire. I got it about 2 years ago from a craft store called the Busy Beaver. Not sure where else you can find it, but I'm sure Micheal's would have something similar.
I proceeded to coil it around the wire. I tried to make these as tight as I could, so as to keep the bangle together.
I decided to go with 1/4" coils, but any length you have the patience to wrap could work.
I went with 5 relatively evenly spaced coils, and voila! Bracelet/Bangle!
The only tricky part to this was where the coils overlapped down at the bottom. This is partly why I wanted the wire just a little longer, but as you can see, coiling the gold wire tightly can be done, it just takes a little patience.
